Fox Coral (Nemenzophyllia turbida) Care Guide ๐ŸฆŠ๐ŸŒŠ

Lighting:

๐Ÿ”† Moderate (PAR 50โ€“150)

Fox corals prefer indirect, diffused light. Too much intensity can cause tissue recession.

Flow:

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Low to Moderate

Gentle, indirect flow is best to keep the fleshy polyps inflated and prevent damage. Avoid strong, direct current.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 76โ€“78ยฐF

  • Salinity: 1.025

  • Alkalinity: 8โ€“10 dKH

  • Calcium: 400โ€“450 ppm

  • Magnesium: 1250โ€“1350 ppm

  • Nitrate: 1โ€“10 ppm

  • Phosphate: 0.02โ€“0.07 ppm

Placement:

๐Ÿ“ Low in the tank on substrate or rock ledges with minimal flow

Give ample space for expansionโ€”flesh is delicate and prone to tearing.

Feeding:

๐Ÿค Optional but beneficial

Feeds primarily via photosynthesis but may accept small meaty foods like mysis or reef roids once or twice a week.

Growth Rate:

๐ŸŒฑ Slow to Moderate

Not a fast grower, but expands significantly when happy.

Aggression:

โš ๏ธ Peaceful

No sweeper tentacles, but still keep distance from aggressive LPS.

๐Ÿ“ Note: Fox corals are known for their pillowy, inflated appearance and soft texture. Handle with extreme careโ€”never expose the skeleton by removing water too fast or during transfers.
