Green Acan Lord (Acanthastrea lordhowensis) – Care Guide

Green Acan Lords are a vibrant addition to any LPS collection, with fleshy polyps and glowing green centers that shimmer under actinic lighting. Their puffed-up texture and slow pulsing movement make them both a visual and textural showpiece.

Care Level: Easy

Lighting: Low to Moderate (50–150 PAR)

Flow: Low to Moderate – enough to keep detritus off but gentle on tissue

Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork – give room to expand and avoid stings from sweepers

Water Parameters:

• Temp: 76–78°F

• Salinity: 1.025

• dKH: 8–10

• Calcium: 400–450 ppm

• Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm

• Nitrate: 2–10 ppm

• Phosphate: 0.01–0.1 ppm

Feeding:

While photosynthetic, they benefit from occasional target feeding with meaty foods like mysis, brine, or reef-roids—especially at night when feeder tentacles are extended.

Growth Tips:

Keep water parameters stable and avoid aggressive neighbors. Green Acans grow well when fed and will expand outward in domed colonies.
