Care

• Difficulty: Easy, as long as alk is stable.
• Light: Low to moderate, about 50–150 PAR. High light keeps mouths closed all day and can brown the flesh. Lower to mid is the sweet spot.
• Flow: Moderate, random, not a jet. Enough that waste does not sit in the trumpets. Too much flow and they stay tucked in.
• Placement: Lower to mid rock or a sand-adjacent shelf. Leave a little room. Heads will multiply and the cluster gets wider, not taller. Do not wedge it against other LPS.
• Feeding: They live on light. You can target feed mysis, chopped shrimp, or a LPS pellet a few times a week when the mouths are open (usually after lights down). Feeding is optional. It grows more heads if you feed, it still lives if you don't.
• Temperament: Peaceful for LPS. Short sweepers. Give a couple inches from zoas, duncan, and pectinia.
• Water: Alk is the one number to protect. Hold it around 8–11 dKH and stop large daily swings. Salinity 1.025. Temp 75–78°F. They tolerate a range of nitrate and phosphate better than acro does.
• Acclimate: Float, then slow drip 20–30 minutes. Place and leave it. Closed heads the first day are normal, especially if your lights are brighter than ours.
• Dip: Dip before the display. Same 1-cup mix as the packing slip: CoralRx 1/4 cap, or iodine 1–2 drops, or potassium chloride 1/4 tsp, in 1 cup of tank water.
• Watch for: Receding flesh at the base (usually alk swing or too much light). Brown jelly is rare if flow is decent. Don't pull heads apart until they have a clear split.
