Lemon Lime Goniopora Care Guide
Lemon Lime Goniopora is one of the more forgiving Goni lines, yet it still rewards stability. Think of it as a plant that blooms best when everything feels predictable.
Lighting
Medium light works best. Aim for PAR between 80 and 150. Too dim and the color dulls. Too bright and the polyps shorten and lose that gentle sway.
Flow
Gentle but consistent flow. You want a soft, waving motion. Strong flow makes it retract and wastes energy. Stagnant water invites trouble.
Placement
Mid to lower rockwork. Give it space so the long polyps don’t rub on neighbors. Goni like “breathing room” more than most LPS.
Feeding
It benefits from broadcast feeding. Reef roids, phyto, and micro foods are all accepted. Feeding two or three times a week helps with growth and polyp fullness.
Water Parameters
Keep things steady.
Calcium around 420.
Alk between 8 and 9.
Magnesium near 1350.
Nitrate 5 to 15.
Phosphate around 0.05 to 0.1.
A little nutrient helps with color and extension.
Temperament
Peaceful. It will not sting other corals, but it hates being touched or crowded. Keep its zone free from aggressive neighbors.
Common Issues
Recession at the base usually comes from unstable alkalinity or poor flow.
Short polyps often point to too much light or too much direct flow.
Browning can come from very low nutrients.
Lemon Lime Goniopora are perfect for tanks that already do weekly water changes and don’t swing around on alk. Once settled, they become reliable growers and excellent centerpieces.
