Aquaculture — USA-grown Alien Eye zoanthid (Zoanthus sp.) frag.
Zoanthids are hardy, beginner-friendly soft corals that open by day and spread across rockwork into colorful colonies. Alien Eye does best with stable water, low to moderate light (about 75–250 PAR), and moderate indirect flow that keeps detritus off the polyps without forcing them closed. Start lower to middle on the rockwork and give it room — or a dedicated rock island — so it can colonize without crowding neighbors.
- Light: Low to medium (about 75–250 PAR)
- Flow: Moderate, indirect
- Placement: Rockwork, lower to middle of the tank to start
- Space: About 1–2 inches from neighbors
Handling note: zoanthids can contain palytoxin. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging, wash hands afterward, and never boil zoanthid-covered rock.
