Care

• Difficulty: Moderate.
• Light: Moderate reef lighting. Color holds best when it is not blasted and not in a dark corner.
• Flow: Moderate, indirect. Enough to keep the surface clean. A direct blast irritates the flesh.
• Placement: Middle rockwork. Leave about 3 inches from neighbors. Chalices can sting.
• Feeding: Photosynthetic. Occasional fine meaty food or LPS pellets a few times a week is optional. It still lives without target feeding.
• Temperament: Moderate. Do not park it against zoas, hammers, or other LPS. Give it space to encrust.
• Water: Steady alk about 8–11 dKH. Salinity 1.025. Temp 75–78°F. Avoid big alk swings.
• Acclimate: Float, drip 20–30 minutes, place, leave it. Closed up overnight is normal.
• Dip: Dip before the display. 1 cup tank water with CoralRx 1/4 cap, iodine 1–2 drops, or potassium chloride 1/4 tsp.
• Watch for: Flesh pulling back from the skeleton, usually a sting or harsh flow. Bleaching from too much light. Give it a few days before you panic.
