Zoanthids are hardy, beginner-friendly soft corals that open by day and spread across rockwork into colorful colonies. Give it stable water, low to moderate light, and moderate indirect flow that keeps detritus off the polyps without forcing them closed. Start lower to middle on the rockwork and give it room, or a dedicated rock island, so it can colonize without crowding neighbors.

Handling note: zoanthids can contain palytoxin. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging, wash hands afterward, and never boil zoanthid-covered rock.

• Placement: Rockwork, lower to middle of the tank to start
• Space: About 1–2 inches from neighbors
