Hammer corals are fleshy LPS Euphyllia with hammer-shaped tentacle tips that sway in the current. Give it moderate light and gentle, indirect flow — enough to keep the tentacles moving without flattening them — and stable alkalinity, calcium and magnesium. Place it bottom to middle on the rockwork with room around it: at night it extends strong sweeper tentacles that can sting neighboring corals. It is photosynthetic, but an occasional feeding of mysis or LPS pellets when the tentacles are out encourages faster growth.

• Light: Medium (about 80–150 PAR)
• Flow: Low to medium, indirect — tentacles should sway gently, not flatten
• Placement: Bottom to middle rockwork
• Space: At least 3 inches from neighbors — strong sweeper tentacles
